What would you do with $16 billion? I know what I would do. I would buy a block in downtown Vancouver. Then I would buy a block in every city in Canada, one per year. Sound kooky? See how the Fraser Institute explains the strange economic contradiction that is our immigration policy.

Time for the federal government to expand public transit?
Since almost all urban growth comes from state population policy, is it time cities demanded that the federal government take over public transit expansion? Long-overdue money for Toronto's subway extentsion is finally kicking in. The provincial Liberals are putting down more than $8 billion to finally lay tracks connecting the suburbs of Toronto. But perhaps it shouldn't be a provincial issue. And perhaps the federal Conservatives could finance and index transit extension like a pension and guarantee cities like Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver never fall decades behind in their infrastructure needs.
